On the morning of April 17th, Falcon Feed founding members Eli Altman and Tommy Moffit delivered a proposal– that their media empire merge with the Field News elective. This offer was excitedly accepted by the Field News team — the two sides aim to collaborate and share resources. Journalism Teacher and Field News top editor Nick thinks that partnership is a “great idea!” He continued: “Why not merge our talents and reach a broader audience?” Field News senior editor Gustavo Vives remarked that the proposed merger is “a great opportunity that we should not pass up.”
Currently, students are brainstorming ideas for the partnership: one of the ideas that were shared during the Falcon Feed’s presentation was making audio recordings of Field News articles and producing podcasts with exclusive extra content.
The soon-to-be-merged groups in the meeting also discussed potentially having a joint marketing campaign – possibly employing the talents of Tim’s digital design class students. Given the successes achieved by Falco and Scatter Brand this year, the new media group anticipates reaching a much larger audience in the new year. Another idea the group anticipates is combining their broadcasts. Currently, the Falcon Feed broadcasts games, and the Field News team makes news videos about the current events on campus. Potentially, the Field News videos could be played at halftime during sporting events.
Eli has been a part of Falcon Feed since his freshman year and has seen it grow and develop. He is extremely excited about the prospect of this partnership. He is confident that the merger will be very successful and benefit both sides. “We are extremely excited for the opportunity to work together and make new and exciting content.”
Co-executive editor Colleen thinks that the partnership is going to be “really great” for both programs. She feels that both sides have great resources and combining these resources is mutually beneficial and excellent for the community.
